Winning million-dollar division one ticket nearly binned by Springwood retiree!

A Springwood retiree has made the life-changing discovery that she has been a millionaire for nearly two weeks after coming forward to claim her unregistered division one winning entry of over $1 million.

The winner was one of 19 division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3759 on Saturday 29 July, each of whom took home a division one prize of $1,052,631.58.

As the entry was unregistered, Golden Casket officials had no way of confirming the win until the winner came forward to claim her $1 million division one prize.

While claiming her prize, the new millionaire confessed to a Golden Casket official that she nearly threw the ticket away thinking she hadn’t won.

“I marked off the numbers a little while ago and thought I hadn’t won as I hadn’t circled three numbers,” the woman explained.

“I left the ticket in my bag to check at the newsagent when I had a chance, but as we were moving house I hadn’t got around to it.

“I saw an article in the local paper saying that the ticket was still out there and I thought to myself ‘I’d better check mine just in case it was me before I throw it away’.

“I went to the newsagency and when he gave me the numbers to check and I realised I had six – I started crying on the spot!”

When asked how the retiree and grandmother planned to spend her windfall she admitted it had come at the right time for her and her family.

“We’ve had a tough few months and weren’t sure how we were going to get through it to be honest.

“This will just make life so much easier and my husband will finally be able to retire - we can relax knowing we are financially stable.

“I have such good daughters, and I am pleased I will be able to help them out too.

“We have a family holiday to Hawaii planned for later this year, and my daughter was originally going to pay for us to go, so it is nice that I will be able to contribute to the trip too now!”

The regularly player said that she usually plays two QuickPick entries in the big draws and has now made sure she has re-registered for a Winners Circle Card.

“My registration to my Winners Circle card lapsed, and I had been meaning to get a new one for a while,” the thrilled woman explained.

“I’ve now got a card and will make sure I register all of my entries!”

The winning 24-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Newsextra Springwood Mall, Shop 9, Centre Shopping Centre, Fitzgerald Avenue, Springwood.

Pam Romano, team member of Newsextra Springwood Mall, said the team were so excited that the customer had come forward to claim their prize.

“We were so excited that we have finally found the customer after waiting two weeks for them to come forward and we are happy to discover it a local regular customer.

“We are always so happy for our customers when they win and we are proud to have sold another division one winner after selling a $3 million entry last June.

“Congratulations to the winner, we wish them all the best with their prize.”

Two weeks on: Gumdale’s mystery millionaire yet to claim prize.

Golden Casket has now been waiting nearly two weeks for a Gumdale resident or visitor who become a millionaire in the Gold Lotto Saturday Superdraw on 29July 2017 to claim their prize.

The division one winning entry was purchased from Nextra Gumdale, Shop 4, 696 New Cleveland Road, Gumdale and won a division one prize of $1,052,631.58.

The winning ticketholders are urged to contact Golden Casket as soon as possible on 131 868 to begin the prize claim process.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3759 on Saturday 29 July 2017 were 28, 34, 30, 43, 42 and 31, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 25.

Across Australia there were 19 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3759, including seven from New South Wales, nine from Victoria, two from Queensland and one from South Australia.

Last financial year, there were 275 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $283 million.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 254 so far this calendar year, including 67 won by Golden Casket customers.
