Katherine battler becomes the NT's latest millionaire

A Katherine battler has queried “are you sh***ing me?” when a Tatts official broke the news that he had won $1,400,000 in Saturday’s TattsLotto $21 million Superdraw.

The colourful winner, who was unaware of his new windfall, shared that he’d had an “interesting” weekend and asked whether the official was calling to turn it all around.

“Are you calling with some good news? Are you going to make up for my weekend?” he initially quizzed officials.

When officially told that he had won a division one share of $1,400,000 he went silent before expressing some happy expletives. “

I’m f***ing over the moon! You have no idea how much this means to me!” he laughed.

“This is amazing news. Just, wow.”

While the winner hasn’t yet decided what he’ll spend his new windfall on, Tatts officials have calculated his $1.4 million could afford approximately 4,472 helicopter rides over Katherine Gorge, 311 nights stay in the luxury Dune Pavillion at Uluru or two top-of-the-line upgraded trophy trucks to compete in the Tatts Finke Desert Race.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 12-game QuickPick from Katherine Exposure Photographics, Shop 4, Southgate Shopping Centre, 1 Katherine Terrace, Katherine, Northern Territory.

Megan Smale, one of the owners of Katherine Exposure Photographics, shared it was great to have another winning entry sold at the store.

“It’s coming up to five years since our last division one win here so it’s fantastic to be able to celebrate again,” Ms Smale said.

“The last win came just as we took over the shop so it’s great to have a win now we know our customers better!

“We wish the lucky winner all the best with his new millionaire status!”

The six winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3749 on Saturday 24 June 2017 were 29, 43, 5, 13, 32 and 1.

The supplementary numbers were 40 and 38. Across Australia there were 15 division one winning entries in the $21 Million Superdraw, with each taking home a division one prize of $1.4 million. The winning entries included two from the Northern Territory, two from Queensland, five from New South Wales, two from Victoria, one from South Australia, and three from Western Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 404 so far this financial year, including 159 won by Tatts customers.
