Uncovered in time for Mother’s Day: NSW’s Instant Scratch-Its hotspots!

The Sydney suburbs of Sylvania, Greystanes and Pendle Hill, along with Queanbeyan and the Wollongong suburb of Warrawong have proven to be New South Wales’ Instant Scratch-Its top prize hotspots during the past 12 months, new research shows.
Released just in time for Mother’s Day – one of the top three times of the year when Australians buy and scratch Instant Scratch-Its tickets – the research shows that during the past 12 months, 46 New South Welshmen have scratched top prizes on their Instant Scratch-Its tickets to win a collective $3.661 million.
These winners join hundreds of other New South Welshmen who’ve won minor other prizes on their Instant Scratch-Its.
The latest study into hotspots found four New South Wales postcodes sold two top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its each during the past 12 months: 2224 for Sylvania / Sylvania Waters, 2620 for Queanbeyan, 2502 for Warrawong (Wollongong) and 2145 for Greystanes / Pendle Hill.
Proving lightning can strike twice, Blooms the Chemist Karabar, Karabar Shopping Mall, Southbar Road, Queanbeyan, and Cowper Street Newsagency, Shop 4, 72-74 Cowper Street, Warrawong, have both sold two top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its during the past 12 months.
However, the state’s biggest single prize of $650,000 on a $10 Live the Life Gold ticket, delivered as $2,500 a week for five years, was sold in the west Sydney suburb of Cecil Hills.

Instant Scratch-Its spokesperson Matt Hart said New South Welshmen had been winning Instant Scratch-Its top prizes at a rate of almost one a week.
With Mother’s Day one of the top three times of the year for Instant Scratch-Its scratching, he said he hoped some New South Wales mums would join the top prize winners club this weekend.
“Instant Scratch-Its are different from other lottery games in that all prizes are pre-determined at the time of printing.  However looking at the research, it’s clear that New South Wales hasn’t been a stranger to big Instant Scratch-Its wins,” he said.
“Right across the state, New South Welshmen have scratched themselves top prizes of more than $3.661 million during the past year.  This doesn’t include the many other small prizes people in New South Wales have also won.
“Just last month, a Rutherford mum celebrated a very good Good Friday when she won one of the $25,000 top prizes on a $2 Instant Scratch-Its ticket.  She said the win left her shaking with excitement, and she planned to pay off her car and go on a cruise!”
