Padstow man has unforgettable birthday with $2.625 million winning gift!

Forget socks and ties, one Padstow dad received a $2.625 million gift for his birthday this year after his adult daughter gave him a division one winning entry in Saturday’s $21 Million Superdraw.

The overjoyed man found the winning ticket tucked inside his birthday card and only checked it last night – 24 hours after it had won the division one prize.

The entry was one of eight division one winning entries nationally, and one of three in New South Wales, in Saturday’s $21 Million Superdaw, draw 3737 on 13 May 2017.  Each won a division one prize of $2,625,000.

Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official today to confirm his prize, the winning man declared the $2.625 million winning ticket was the best birthday gift he had ever received.

“I couldn’t believe it at first!  This was a present from my daughter – a lottery ticket for my birthday,” he explained.

“I rang her last night and told her the news.  She was over the moon like me!”

While a regular Lotto player himself, the man said he also often received lotto tickets as gifts.

“People often don’t know what to get me as a gift – that’s why they give me lottery tickets.  But that’s fine with me!” he said.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said one of the first purchases he planned to make with his “birthday gift” was a house for himself.

“Otherwise, I’m going to let it all sink in, settle back and see what else I’m going to do.”

The winning 10-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Cookies Food Shop, Shop 1, 258 Lakedge Avenue, Berkeley Vale.

Cookies Food Shop co-owner Dipak Vekaria said the outlet was celebrating selling its first division one winning entry.

“It’s great news!  Congratulations to the winner!” he said excitedly.

“We’ve been telling everyone that we sold a winning ticket and hopefully there’s more wins to come!”

The six winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3737 on Saturday 13 May 2017 were 21, 1, 40, 30, 16 and 35.  The supplementary numbers were 7 and 2.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 361 so far this financial year, including 102 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
