Benalla TattsLotto winner hot to trot after keeping winning ticket in the freezer

A hardworking Benalla man kept his winning TattsLotto ticket in the freezer over the weekend to keep it safe and secure until he could come forward to claim his prize.

Speaking to a Tatts official, the man said he took his sister’s advice on the unorthodox hiding place after checking his ticket on Sunday and discovering his win.

His entry was one of nine division one winning entries across Australia, including seven from Victoria, in TattsLotto draw 3725 on Saturday 1 April 2017.

Each won a first division prize of $463,590.27.

“Thanks very much for that!” the ecstatic winner told a Tatts official today.

“I checked my ticket yesterday morning and crossed all the numbers out!  I’ve been holding on tight to the ticket since then!

“My sister told me to put the ticket in a container and hide it in the freezer.  So I did!  And it’s worked!”

The happy winner said he was a regular player, but this was his biggest win to date.

“I’m going to look at buying a little property.  It will get me back on track,” he said.

“I’m not greedy.  I’m so happy with that.  Absolutely!”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 50-game QuickPick from Rose City Lotto, 49 Bridge Street, Benalla.

Rose City Lotto owner Kim Lim said the outlet was celebrating their second division one win since taking over ownership of the store in 2014.

“Congratulations to the winner!  We wish them all the very best with their prize,” he said.

“It’s the second time we’ve sold a division one winning entry since we took over the business.  We’re on a roll!  Hopefully every year we can sell a division one winning entry!”
