Melbourne F1 fans sent into a spin with Powerball Lap of Luxury

Fifteen Melbourne F1 fans have been sent into an adrenaline-fuelled spin in the Powerball Lap of Luxury, which saw three stretch limousines race each other to the finish line on a speedway circuit.

The fun and extravagant epxerience was part of a social media competition, designed to give people a taste of what it might be like to win Powerball and live in the lap of luxury.

The competition winners were Claire Gregory, 42, from Melbourne, Melissa Ong, 27, from Croydon, and Ryan Anderson, 29, from Mornington. Each winner joined by four friends in their own racing limo.

Video of their daring and decadent drive has just been released and can be viewed at the Tatts Facebook page.

Heightening the thrill of the experience, the competition winners were unaware of exactly what was in store.  They were whisked away late last week in limos thinking they were kicking off the 2017 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix weekend with a luxurious race day experience.

But when their limos pulled up to the starting line ready to race, the backseat passengers were left stunned.

During the race, the motor racing fans were treated to the finer things in life, including tuxedoed butlers serving drinks and refined finger food while a trio of chamber musicians played.

In the pitstop, The Bachelor’s Richie Strahan jumped into one of the limos, sending some hearts racing.

At the end of the fun, the racers scored tickets to the Formula One Paddock Lounge at the 2017 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Tatts spokesperson Matt Hart said the Powerball Lap of Luxury aimed to ignite the bold dreams of everyday Australians.

“Powerball is all about big jackpots and big dreams. With the Powerball Lap of Luxury we wanted to inspire Australians to imagine how their lives could change if they won!” he said.

“Each week, Powerball division one winners tell us their own unique dreams and what they will do with their multi-million dollar prize.  From awe-inspiring homes and luxury cars through to extravagant holidays and unforgettable experiences, it’s clear Australians know how to dream big!”

Celebrating its 21st anniversary, Powerball has given away almost $3.5 billion in division one prize money to more than 370 winners.

Powerball has jackpotted to a massive $15 million for this Thursday’s draw.
