Lithgow woman doing it tough hopes The Pools win signals better times ahead

A retired Lithgow woman hopes her family’s luck has changed for the better after winning division one in the weekend’s The Pools, giving her a prize of more than $266,000.

The shocked winner, who admitted her family had been doing it tough in recent months, screamed with delight today when NSW Lotteries officials broke the news of her win to her.

The woman used a combination of family birth dates to complete her four-game The Pools entry, purchased from Westend Newsagency in Lithgow.

“Get out! Get out!” the woman yelled on receiving the news.

“Oh wow. Thank you. Thank you!”

“Can I say I need a change of luck! That’s wonderful. It’s been a hard few months. We’ve been through a terrible time,” she said, sniffing back tears.

“I’m crying. I can’t tell you how bad my luck’s been.

“What a wonderful call! Thank you! I can’t thank you enough!”

A regular The Pools player, the woman said she would use some of the money to pay for her family’s expenses and put the rest into savings.

She was the only division one winner in The Pools from draw 1648 and won a total prize of $266,787.03.

The happy woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her ticket from Westend Newsagency, 341A Main Street, Lithgow.

Westend Newsagency owner John Price said he was thrilled one of his customers had won the division one prize. “

Congratulations to the winner! It’s exciting to have a division one winner as one of our customers,” he said.

“We haven’t had too many winners in the past so we hope this could be the start of a winning streak for our customers.”

The winning numbers in The Pools Lotto draw 1648 on Saturday 25 February 2017 were 30, 19, 14, 9, 26 and 20. The supplementary number was 2.

The Lott’s division one winning entry tally has now reached 270 so far this financial year, including 78 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
