A cool $1 million 'on the Rocks'

A woman from the north-western suburbs of Sydney cried tears of joy when she checked her Wednesday Lotto ticket in North Rocks this morning, and discovered she’d been served up a cool $1 million in last night’s draw!

The overjoyed woman was on her way to do the grocery shopping when she decided to quickly pop in to her regular newsagent, but after discovering she’d become a millionaire, she decided the milk and bread could wait!

“This has got to be the best day ever! I was supposed to be doing the shopping but it can wait!” the new millionaire laughed.

“I didn’t have a clue, but it’s really true? That’s brilliant! We’re all in tears, the newsagency lady is in tears, I’m in tears!

“It’s life-changing isn’t it really? So amazing!”

During the conversation with NSW Lotteries, the woman’s husband phoned her and she exclaimed “It’s me - It’s true! It’s true! It’s really happening!”

“My husband hates his job. It’s just crazy. Now that we know we’ve won he’s already thinking up a line he can deliver to quit – something right out of a John Wayne western film like ‘Let’s get the hell out of here! I’m quitting this town!’” she laughed.

“As for what else we’ll do, who knows! I haven’t gotten that far yet as I’m still processing it and waiting for this all to sink in!”

The happy woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased a 50-game QuickPick entry from Goodnews Newsagency, Shops 13–14 in North Rocks Shopping Centre, 328–336 North Rocks Road, North Rocks.

Mandy Patterson is the manager of Goodnews Newsagency and was overjoyed to have been a part of making their customer a millionaire.

“It’s been so exciting! In my five years here I’ve dreamt of selling a division one winning ticket and only recently I’ve been mucking around with our customers saying it’s got to be our turn soon!” Ms Patterson exclaimed.

“It was another staff member here who actually sold the ticket, but I feel so lucky to have been here to share in the moment with the customer when she checked her ticket and had the dream-come-true news confirmed!

“I think they’ll be more to come too! On Chinese New Year a dragon danced through the centre and came back just to travel through our shop and I think its luck has rubbed off!” A

cross Australia, it was the only division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3637, which offers a guaranteed $1 million division one prize for up to four winners in every draw.

The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3637 on Wednesday 22 February were 44, 30, 43, 10, 26 and 42. The supplementary numbers were 14 and 13.

It was twice as nice for more than 122,000 winners drawn around the country who doubled their prize money in divisions 2 to 6 in last night’s Double Dollars Day draw.

The lion’s share of the division two winning entries were from New South Wales with six entries each collecting a doubled-up division two prize of $11,871.60.

The Lott’s division one winning entry tally has now reached 268 so far this financial year, including 77 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
