Lutwyche's mystery Megadraw millionaire missing out on a very happy new year

A Brisbane’s northside resident or visitor has kicked off 2017 by becoming a millionaire following Gold Lotto’s $31 Million Megadraw on New Year’s Eve, but has yet to hear the happy news for themselves. G

olden Casket has now been waiting more than two weeks for the mystery winner, who purchased a ticket at Lutwyche News & Gifts, to check their ticket and claim the first division prize of $1,347,326.09.

Gold Lotto’s $31 Million Megadraw (draw 3699) was drawn on Saturday 31 December 2016, unveiling the winning numbers: 11, 18, 40, 16, 4 and 31.

Golden Casket spokesperson Matt Hart said the division one winning ticket had not been registered to a Winners Circle card so officials had no clues or contact details for the missing winner.

He said the Lutwyche million-dollar prize was the last to be claimed from the five division one prizes won by Queensland players in that draw.

“We all know the start of a new year can be a crazy time as many head back to work, while others enjoy time away with family and friends. Somewhere out there is our mystery winner who has forgotten to check the Gold Lotto ticket they bought for the New Year’s Eve Megadraw,” he said.

“Imagine being a millionaire but not knowing it! This person could really be enjoying a happy new year!

“We’re putting the call out to help track down the missing millionaire and share the New Year’s cheer with them. The winning ticket may have been stashed away as part of a New Year’s clean-up or tucked away in a suitcase or travel bag that’s yet to be unpacked.

“If you purchased an unregistered entry in Gold Lotto’s 31 Million Megadraw in Lutwyche, check your ticket as you could be our millionaire!”

Golden Casket reminds players of the importance of registering their tickets to a Winners Circle Card so all of their prizes are secure and they can be contacted directly with the good news of a big win.

The division one winning entry was purchased from Lutwyche News & Gifts, within Lutwyche Shopping Centre, 543 Lutwyche Road, Lutwyche.

Lutwyche News & Gifts owner Andrew Lincoln said the store’s staff were “holding their breath” that the winner would come back to check their ticket.

“Every day we hope our mystery customer will pop in. We’ve got signs up in the store letting people know a division one ticket was sold here so we hope that will also spur people into action,” he said.

Anyone who believes they are holding the division one winning entry is urged to keep it in a safe place and contact Golden Casket on 131 868 as soon as possible to start the prize claim process.
