Port Lincoln man wins $50,000 on Instant Scratch-Its!

A man from the city of Port Lincoln in South Australia’s lower Eyre Peninsula, has scratched a top prize of $50,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its $2 ticket he purchased in the town of Cummins.

The happily surprised man said he had been planning a belated birthday celebration when he purchased the winning Instant Scratch-Its $2 ticket as a treat to himself.

“I went to the butcher to pick up some meat and just decided to buy a few Instant Scratch-Its tickets at the newsagency nearby,” he explained.

“My partner actually scratched the ticket that night and was quite shocked to see the top prize of $50,000!

“We had a little bit of a celebration with a fancy bottle of Scotch to share.

“After I realised I’d won my first thought was ‘bugger, now I’ll have to grow up!’ Ten years ago I would have spent this windfall all willy-nilly but I’m going to be sensible and spend it wisely.

“I know to some people $50,000 is just chicken feed, but for us it’s like winning one million dollars. It means a great deal to us.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased the top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its $2 ticket from Cummins Newsagency, 66 Bruce Terrace in Cummins.
