'Country bumpkin' from Avoca hits the big time!

A great-grandmother from Avoca has a lot of gift shopping to do, after her regular 18-game QuickPick entry in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw won a division one prize worth $339,533.67!

The sweet lady, who described herself as ‘just a country bumpkin’, said she was convinced her luck was about to come around but was surprised to get a division one phone call from Tatts today.

“Oh my godfather! My goodness! Oh dear oh dear! I’m all a flutter!” the woman exclaimed.

“That’s fair dinkum? You’re not pulling my leg? Well that’s beaut! It’s certainly not a division one prize to sniff at!

“Everyone is going to be tickled pink in the town! About five years ago I remembering hearing about someone who won division one when picking up a ticket when they were passing through town and it was very exciting!

“I’ve had a feeling for a while that I was going to win the lotto but I thought ‘it better hurry up I’m getting old’! So I’ve been buying a ticket in the draw every week when I pick up the week’s paper.

“When I check my tickets at the newsagency I always feel great if the machine makes the winning tinkle sound, but winning division one is what I’ve been holding out for!

“Once my heart stops thumping I’ll work out what I’m going to do with the prize but it’s going to help quite a few in my family and I’m afraid I may just go ahead and spoil my great grandchildren!”

The happy woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her 18-game QuickPick from Avoca Newsagency, 126 High Street in Avoca.

Ron and Jenny Eason are the owners of Avoca Newsagency and said they are over-the-moon about their first division one winning customer.

“Well this wonderful news has certainly brightened an otherwise dreary day!” Mrs Eason exclaimed.

“It’s fantastic to know we’ve helped make a customer’s division one dream come true and we couldn’t be happier for them.

“This division one winning entry is the first we’ve sold in the past six and a half years we’ve operated the business, so we’ll never forget it!

“We’re also happy for our town and the excitement it will bring to the Avoca community!”

Throughout Australia, there were 12 entries that won a first division prize of $339,533.67 in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.
