Coolangatta gold! $1 million win in Wednesday Gold Lotto!

A trio of ladies who play Gold Lotto together are now celebrating together after their numbers came up in last night’s Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.

The syndicate leader confessed to a Golden Casket official this morning that she didn’t sleep at all last night after discovering their Wednesday Gold Lotto entry had won a $1 million first division prize.

“This is so wonderful!” the excited syndicate leader declared.

“I always listen to the radio at night and when I heard the Wednesday Gold Lotto results after the draw I thought the winning numbers sounded familiar. So the next time they announced them, I looked at our ticket to check our numbers and when I realised we’d won first division I started shaking all over!

“I rang one of my friends who I share the ticket with straight away and got her to get the winning numbers off the internet so we could double check our ticket had won us $1 million. When we were convinced we’d won, she nearly fainted! Neither of us got any sleep after that!

“There are three of us who will share this prize money. We’re all very good friends and we’ve been playing Gold Lotto together for years, each week taking a turn to buy an entry. This time I decided to use some favourite numbers which I’d had a win on previously and added my daughter’s birthday to make it a System 7 entry!

“I’m not too sure what everyone will do with their share of the windfall but I’m sure mortgages will be paid and everyone’s bank account will have a healthy balance!”

The winners have chosen to remain anonymous.

The division one winning System 7 marked entry won first division and other divisional prizes totalling $1,001,429.65 and was purchased from Coolangatta News and Lotto, Shop 2, 6 Griffith Street in Coolangatta.

They say lightning never strikes twice but the Coolangatta newsagency is celebrating selling its second $1 million division one winning ticket in just over a fortnight.

Greg Doherty is the owner of Coolangatta News and Lotto and was delighted to have another division one win so soon after the last.

“This is amazing! We only sold a division one winning entry worth $1 million in Saturday Gold Lotto a little over two weeks ago on the 23 April!” Mr Doherty said.

“I said at the time that we were hoping for a hat-trick of first division wins this year and now we’re well on our way with two division one wins!

“Our division one winning tally is growing, we’ve got two so far this year and we sold two division one winning entries last year. We had a $2.7 million division one winning store syndicate in the Megadraw in January, and we sold a $1 million Wednesday Gold Lotto winning entry in October.

“But at the end of the day, it’s so exciting to know that another one of our customers is celebrating winning first division.”

Throughout Australia, there were four entries that won first division in Wednesday Gold Lotto which offers a guaranteed division one prize of $1 million for up to four winners in each draw. Along with the winning entry from Queensland, there were two division one winning tickets sold in Victoria and one in New South Wales.

The winning numbers in Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3555 on Wednesday 11 May were 22, 13, 1, 31, 8 and 11. The supplementary numbers were 41 and 25.
