New car but no Ferrari for Canberra's $2.5 million Oz Lotto winner!

Wednesday 6 April 2016 - A new car is on top of the wish list for Canberra’s newest multi-millionaire who scored a first division prize in last night’s Oz Lotto draw.

After winning more than $2.5 million with his System 8 Oz Lotto entry, the Canberra man said he won’t be racing out to buy a shiny new sports car.

“No Ferrari for me! But I will upgrade my old car and get something new,” the happy winner declared before explaining how he discovered he’d become a new multi-millionaire.

“I checked my entry at 5:30 this morning not long after I started my day. I was circling numbers on my ticket and before I knew it I had five, then six and finally all seven winning numbers!

“After I re-checked my ticket a few times to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake, I was surprisingly cool as a cucumber. I even took my dog out for a morning walk!

“It actually doesn’t feel real at the moment! Maybe it will start to sink in once I celebrate with a few drinks this evening!

“Apart from a new car, I plan to share my windfall with my family. I’ll buy myself a new home and retire so I can go on a European holiday later in the year!”

The division one winning entry in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw was purchased at Curtin Newsagency and Post Office, Shop 38, Curtin Place in the ACT.

Throughout Australia, there were two entries that won a first division share of Oz Lotto’s $5 million jackpot draw on Tuesday 5 April, each worth $2.5 million. Along with the winning entry purchased in the ACT, the other winning ticket was sold in Circular Quay, Sydney.

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1155 on Tuesday 5 April 2016 were 17, 37, 44, 15, 2, 3 and 28. The supplementary numbers were 18 and 4.

There’s another chance to win big this week with $6 million up for grabs in Thursday’s Powerball draw. Tickets are available at any NSW Lotteries outlet or online via Tatts.com.
