Family win TattsLotto with late loved one's numbers

A family from the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne say a $3.98 million division one TattsLotto win was their late husband and father’s way of saying ‘Merry Christmas’.

The grandmother of the family continued to play the TattsLotto numbers that she chose with her late husband after he passed away more than five years ago, and in Saturday’s draw they came up – winning the entire prize pool of $3,980,966.52.

“I thought I better get confirmation before I got too excited! There was only one winning entry on the weekend too, so I wasn’t sure it could be true!” the grandmother exclaimed.

“Oh my gosh! Thank you! He was saying Merry Christmas to us! It’s our Christmas wishes coming true.

“Years ago, my late husband and I picked out our TattsLotto numbers and because he was always working hard he didn’t have time to go to the shops, so I used to put the ticket on.

“And I’ve kept putting the ticket on every week for years since he passed and I thought ‘what am I doing?’ but then I checked the ticket on Sunday morning and I couldn’t believe it!

“We played from the very first TattsLotto draw. We’ve had humble beginnings but my husband always had a feeling our family were going to win first division.

“He always said ‘It’s for you and me and our three kids!’

“We’re a very tight-knit family and I do the pick-ups and drop-offs from school for my grandchildren, so I’m very lucky to be surrounded by family.”

The grandmother, who wishes to remain anonymous, said in her husband’s memory she would be sharing the joy and prize money with her children and grandchildren.

She purchased the 12-game marked entry from Oakleigh Central Lotto, Kiosk 4, Oakleigh Central Shopping Centre, Hannover Street in Oakleigh.

Yudy Sumarna is the owner of Oakleigh Central Lotto and was thrilled to have sold a division one winning TattsLotto entry.

“This is great news for our customer. We are so happy and pleased for them!” Mr Sumarna exclaimed.

“Selling a division one winning entry this time of year makes it even more special. I’m sure it will brighten their Christmas and will be a year they will never forget!

“Congratulations to our division one winning customer! I hope this is the first of many division one wins for our customers, especially ahead of the New Year’s Eve $31 million Megadraw.

“All our customers are special and we hope we can change more lives soon.”

Prior to this weekend’s TattsLotto draw, Oakleigh Central Lotto most recently sold a $1.6 million division one winning TattsLotto entry to one of their customers, a local man from Oakleigh, in March 2015.

Throughout Australia, there was one entry that won a division one prize of $3,980,966.52 in TattsLotto draw 3695 on Saturday 17 December 2016.

The six winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3695 on Saturday 17 December were 8, 36, 17, 42, 29 and 18. The supplementary numbers were 11 and 33.

The Lott’s division one winning entry tally has now reached 189 so far this financial year, including 72 won by Tatts customers.
