From Bendigo retiree to TattsLotto millionaire!

Monday 11 January 2016 - A woman from Bendigo was beside herself when she realised her entry in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw had won a division one prize of more than $1 million.

The winning woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she had broken down in tears of joy when she discovered that her unregistered TattsLotto ticket had turned out to be very valuable.

“I was crying when I first looked at my numbers and saw that it was a first division prize! I was telling myself ‘pull yourself together!’” the woman laughed.

“And I’m still pinching myself, thinking how could this be real? I even slept with the ticket beside my bed last night!

“My husband and I have worked hard all our lives so this windfall means we can have a wonderful retirement, as well as being able to help our family.”

The happy couple had already discussed some other ideas for how to kick-start their lives as millionaires.

“Our old car is due for replacement, so we’ll be able to update our current car to a newer model!” the woman exclaimed.

“We could definitely handle a holiday and we both agree that Tasmania looks like a relaxing place to take a break.

“As a treat, we’ll be taking the family for a nice day out at the tennis!”

The division one winning 36-game QuickPick entry was purchased from City Central Newsagency at Shop 1, 5 Queen Street in Bendigo.

It’s the second division one winning entry that City Central Newsagency has sold in the last 12 weeks, after a Bendigo grandfather won more than $570,000 in TattsLotto in October last year.

Terry Clohesy is the owner of City Central Newsagency and said he was delighted to be stacking up another division one win.

“We’re having a great streak of wins lately with lots of happy customers picking up prizes here and there, but nothing beats another division one winner!” Mr Clohesy exclaimed.

“To hear one of our local customers is now a millionaire is just amazing and we wish them all the best!”

Throughout Australia, there were four entries that won a first division share of TattsLotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool on Saturday 9 January, each worth $1,020,496.38. Along with the division one winning entry from Victoria, there were two division one winning entries sold in New South Wales and one from Western Australia.

The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3597 on Saturday 9 January, 2016 were 20, 25, 36, 30, 18 and 2. The supplementary numbers were 5 and 11.
