Retiree to hit the road after $276,900 win in The Pools!

Wednesday 16 September 2015 - An elderly woman from the western suburbs of Adelaide is planning a big road trip after scooping The Pools in the weekend’s draw!

An SA Lotteries official contacted the winner this morning to break the dream-come-true news that she’d won a first division prize worth $276,900!

“Just a moment, if this is good news I better get my glasses!” she exclaimed.

“How much? So you’re telling me I’m more than $276,000 richer today? Thank you so much!”

The overjoyed woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she wouldn’t be letting age get in the way of her big plans.

“I’ve got lots of lovely friends I can share my winnings with, so l think we’ll take a road trip to Western Australia and go to the beautiful beaches there. But we’ll have to mind the sharks!” she laughed.

The winning 14-game QuickPick was purchased from Port Adelaide Papershop, Shop 11 in Old Port Canal Shopping Centre, Commercial Road in Port Adelaide.

Michael Groves is the owner of the Port Adelaide Papershop and said he was thrilled to have sold a division one winning ticket.

“We’re so excited to think one of our lovely customers has taken home a ticket purchased from our shop that had the division one winning number combination!” Mr Groves said.

“We actually sold a winning Keno Spot 8 entry worth $50,000 in May to an Adelaide grandmother, so we hope that our luck will continue and our next big win won’t be far off!”

It was the only entry that scooped the entire first division prize pool of $276,901.06 in The Pools, an SA Lotteries game where the winning numbers are based on the results of local and international soccer matches.

The winning numbers in The Pools draw 1572 on Saturday 12 September were 27, 23, 35, 26, 17 and 10 with the supplementary number of 3.
