It’s a milestone batsmen in cricket cherish, but in V8 Supercar racing a ton has never been reached. However, Craig Lowndes can create his own piece of history by becoming the first driver to reach triple figures this weekend.

Lowndes is in line to register his record 100th Australian Touring Car Championship/V8 Supercars Championship race victory at Barbagallo, a circuit where he’s enjoyed more wins (15) in his long career than any other. The 888 pilot is currently third in the championship; 23 points behind Red Bull team mate Jamie Whincup .

In fact, heading into the UBET Perth SuperSprint just 80 points separate the top seven drivers. And it’s all good if you’re a Holden fan, with six Commodores up there, and only Mark Winterbottom bucking the trend in his Falcon.

The old saying ‘horses for courses’ certainly rings true in motorsport, and if you are a supporter of James Courtney or Shane van Gisbergen , Barbagallo Raceway hasn’t been kind to either of them. Neither has finished on the podium in Perth, with fourth their best result. Second in the championship, just 19 points behind Whincup, Courtney would dearly love a change of fortune in the west. The same applies to van Gisbergen, who is in fifth spot.

As part of an exclusive partnership with V8 Supercars, UBET has naming rights to this weekend’s Perth SuperSprint. As the newly-appointed UBET motorsport ambassador, four-time Bathurst winner and recently retired V8 legend Greg Murphy will provide expert insight throughout the season.
