Two sides facing relegation meet on Wednesday morning (AEST) as QPR travel to Aston Villa in the EPL.

Last weekend’s 4-1 victory over West Brom lifted QPR off the foot of the EPL table, but it wasn’t enough to get them out of the drop zone. A win on Wednesday morning, however, would be enough for them to climb out of the bottom three, although a loss would almost certainly draw an end to their relegation battle. Fixtures against Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and West Ham loom in the final two months of EPL for the Hoops, and Chris Ramsey will be all too aware of the importance of Wednesday’s match. Charlie Austin broke a three-game goal drought on the weekend to lift his season goal tally 16, and he’s a popular pick at in the first goal scorer market.

Aston Villa failed to compete against Manchester United on the weekend, losing 3-1 at Old Trafford and putting them well and truly in the scrap to avoid relegation. Apart from back-to-back victories in early March, the Clarets have either drawn or lost in their recent 16 league matches. Their form in front of goal has been abysmal this season, managing just 20 goals in 31 games – the worst attacking record in the league. They head into this clash without the services of Scott Sinclair and Ashley Westwood again, who both remain sidelined with hamstring injuries.

At this stage of the season, these sort of battles are just as entertaining as the top of the table tussles. QPR will be confident of causing an upset on Wednesday after winning the corresponding fixture earlier in the season 2-0 at Loftus Road.
