Chiefs 13+

The Chiefs will still be reeling from the shocking loss of playmaker Aaron Cruden for the year, but I don’t envisage that will stop them from running riot over this listless Force outfit, with complacency the Chiefs only worry. A Chiefs home ground advantage will only make this clash harder for the Force, who have their own injury woes, but do welcome back inspirational skipper Matt Hodgson.

Highlanders 1-12

The Brumbies have been a different side in recent weeks and appear lost without some key playmakers. That doesn’t excuse their lacklustre forward effort though (scrums especially). So unless they have a dramatic about face, it is looking like another loss on the cards. I’m leaning towards the away side who seem to be playing with a real team spirit and determination that will be hard for the Brumbies to overcome.

Blues 'Line'

The Crusaders are rapidly losing touch with the top three Kiwi teams in the NZ conference and recent form is a major concern with basic errors crippling their play. Their precarious ladder position, and the embarrassment following a big loss to the Chiefs last week, will deepen their resolve, but the Blues won't roll over without a fight.

Waratahs 13+

The Waratahs look like their season is back on track following a fantastic win against the Canes last week. Their main danger against an improving Rebels side will be complacency. However, I reckon the Tahs can build on last week to avoid any chance of a shock loss.

Lions 'Line'

The Lions won't want to lose this must win clash against the lowly-placed Cheetahs. The Lions home ground advantage and better cohesion, and obvious team spirit, should see them seal the win here. The Cheetahs have also lost some key players through injury, but they will still make a contest of it as these derbies are typically tight affairs.

Value Bet

Stormers 1-12

This will be a brutal encounter between these two South African heavyweights. I expect them both to pick their top sides again, after the recent resting of some key Springbok players. This result could swing either way, but I will lead towards the home side, which has been the more consistent all year. The home ground advantage should also provide the Stormers a lift.

Value Bet

Hurricanes 1-12

While the Reds will be buoyed by their breakthrough second win last week, I am not convinced it will be enough to overcome a very physical and well-drilled Hurricanes side with perhaps the best backline in the competition. I do, though, expect the home side to lift again to make it close, but the added distractions around Quade Cooper’s future won't help.
