With the destiny of the Brisbane Roar’s finals hopes all but out of their hands, pride will be on the line as both teams do battle at Suncorp Stadium. The Roar have Matt Mackay & Luke DeVere back from Socceroos duty and need to win after losing their last four games in a row. The Mariners are the only A-League team yet to win on the road this season, but despite that ordinary statistic, I give them a real chance following a gritty and determined showing last week against title favourites Melbourne Victory last weekend.

Red Card?

The Wanderers may count themselves a little unlucky in not sharing the points with the Glory after a long East/West road trip. Melbourne City will be looking for the win to maintain an eight point buffer over the Brisbane Roar but will have their work cut out given they’ve only defeated the Wanderers once in the previous eight matches. Karem Bulut is in devastating attacking form for WSW scoring five goals in as many matches and is highly fancied in both the ‘1st Goal Scorer’ and ‘To Score a Goal’ markets, along with the returning Socceroo Tomi Juric.

Sydney FC are travelling along in impressive form of late and have won four of their past five matches and remain the only unbeaten team away from home this season. They also lead the A-League with eight clean sheets, which will please coach Graham Arnold. Leading goal scorer Marc Janko returns from International duty with Austria and will be looking to add to his impressive tally of 16 goals in 19 games this season. Adelaide’s form has been mixed but an unflattering win on the road against Newcastle will certainly help towards regaining some momentum. The Reds will be encouraged by a fine away record to Sydney remaining unbeaten in their last six against them. (W6 D1).

Correct Score

This could very well be the dress rehearsal to this season’s A-League Grand Final. An understrength Phoenix were shocked 3-0 at home last Sunday and will be looking to bounce back quickly as Nathan Burns, Michael McGlinchey and a host of other talent return into the squad. Their record against the Victory is poor losing nine from the past eleven. If history is anything to go by, then goals could be the order of the day as five goals have been scored in each of the past three games between the sides. Roy Krishna is always worth an investment in the ‘To Score a Goal’ market.

HT Result

The Jets are aiming for only their second win at home this season, but finding the net has been a big issue, with only two goals finding the score sheet from the last four home appearances. Perth can consider the Jets as a bogie side as they are yet to beat the boys from the Hunter in their past 10 games. The Glory’s confidence will be lifted after the last ditch win that saw them record their first victory at home since Christmas and ending a run of nine game without securing the three points. This is probably the toughest tipping game of the round and for that reason I’m leaning in favour of a draw.
