Just five days after running a track and Australasian record over the mile (1:47.7), winning the Ladyship Mile on Inter Dominion Day at Menangle, super Kiwi mare Adore Me is chasing the Group 1 Auckland Cup.

She might be the fastest horse in this region, but Adore Me will have to overcome the outside barrier from the mobile start and a number of classy rivals over 2700m at Alexandra Park Paceway in Auckland. Twelve months ago, Adore Me was runner up to Terror To Love  in the event. Despite sitting in the breeze, outside the leader with no cover, Adore Me was just 0.1 seconds outside the world record mile rate, and according to trainer Mark Purdon, the mare wasn't driven right out by reins-woman Natalie Rasmussen.

Christen Me  is another major player in the $250,000 event which dates back to 1890 and has been won by harness superstars like I'm Themightyquinn, Auckland Reactor, Elsu, Christian Cullen, Chokin, Delightful Lady, Cardigan Bay and Caduceus.
