Well after Sunday’s bizarre nine-goal thriller at Allianz Stadium against the Roar, you’d have to think Graham Arnold would be happy with a 1-0 clean sheet score line this week. For City, they’re winless in five away clashes and have failed to find the net in four of those matches. The importance of the top six for City and Sydney retaining top spot will ensure there’s plenty to play for. I think Sydney’s superior attack through Marc Janko and the improving Bernie Ibini will see them get the valuable three points.

If this game was staged in the EPL it would be billed as a relegation battle between two struggling sides suffering a huge points drought this season. Hard to believe the WSW have failed to win in their last four meetings against the Jets, although three have ended in draws. No team has won fewer games than the Jets, although the Wanderers have lost more. Neither side is a clear-cut winner so the draw is looking the favourite option for many punters.

This promises to be the match of the round in my opinion. Arguably the league favourites (Melbourne Victory) up against the Reds whose form has been patchy of late. Adelaide have won none of their last five meetings with the Victory and have conceded 13 goals, which is a worrying stat for coach Josep Gombau. Don’t write off the Reds though as the Victory have a terrible record on the road to Adelaide losing their last six (D2 L4).

The Glory are coming off a disappointing 2-1 home loss in the ‘Distance Derby’ against Wellington and will be hoping for three points after recording just one win in their last 10 games (1W 6D 3L). The record isn’t much rosier for the Mariners who have won just one of their past five games and no side has lost more home games. On the back of the Glory’s unmatched away goals record (9) my money is with Kenny Lowe’s men to start a winning run towards the final and put the draw “Groundhog Day” routine to bed.

The Roar return back to the comfort of their real home (Suncorp Stadium) following a disappointing mid-week ACL draw with the Suwon Bluewings at the Gold Coast. The current A-League ‘Premiers & Champions’ face table toppers Phoenix who continue to surprise every pundit with their impressive away form all season. Despite never winning or keeping a clean sheet in 12 previous visits, you’d be a brave judge to tip against the Nix facing a Roar side who have scored only seven goals at home all season.
