11 three-year-olds have been successful in the last 32 years, with the most recent being Typhoon Tracy in 2009.

13 four-year-olds have won, 5 five-year-olds and 3 six-year-olds.

22 of those successful in the last 32 editions came into this race with a win or placing at group level (14 winners & 8 placed).

This race has been a bit of a graveyard for favourites with only 9 saluting out of the last 32 editions.

The last outright favourite to score was Typhoon Tracy ($4.90) in 2009.

Short-priced favourites have a good strike rate with Sunline winning twice ($1.70 in 2002 & $2.50 in 2000) and Emancipation ($2) scoring in 1984.
The last outsider to win was Alverta ($17) in 2010, with Quicksilver Cindy a $67 bolter in 1991
 •  The last short priced favourite to get rolled was Lotteria ($2.10) in 2005.

The last three winners have come out of single figure barriers. In fact, 18 of the last 32 winners have started inside gate 10.

Barriers 2, 7 and 14 have produced four winners each.

The last runner to leave the inside gate and win was $21 outsider Eskimo Queen in 2008.

The last horse to overcome the outside barrier and win was Danni Martine (16/16) in 2005. The other horse to win from the visitors’ gate was Kapchat, who also jumped from barrier 16 in 1994.
