Beautide's Definitely In

With another main danger out of the series and Beautide  back to his best in the heats, James Rattray's star pacer is on target to go back-to-back in the Inter Dominion at Menangle on 01 March.

In the most impressive of the five qualifiers, Beautide smashed fellow Grand Circuit performer For A Reason to ensure he'll start a firm favourite with TattsBet in the $750,000 Group 1 Final over 3009m. His heat performance reaffirmed his status as the best pacer in the country after an injury plagued build up and a lack-lustre 8th in the Victoria Cup at his previous start.

However, the sudden and shock exits of top quality rivals have also ensured the focus is firmly back on the defending champ. In the lead up to the heats, Adore Me, Christen Me, Guaranteed, Philadelphia Man and Arden Rooney all fell by the wayside.

Last year's runner-up, Seel N Print failed to qualify, as did the speedy Suave Stuey Lombo, while the hot pot in the Queensland Heat, Avonnova , got rolled at $1.20 (although he's at least in the final).

Realistically, Beautide's only serious threat now appears to be rising-star Lennytheshark , who won the Victorian Heat at Melton. But 'Lenny' will have to put in a herculian effort to push back 'the tide' on his home track, where the sweeping bends and long straights suit powerhouse style of racing.
