Following a frustrating spell which has included battles with minor injuries and ailments, champion pacer Beautide  finally returns to racing at Melton on Saturday night.

And he's first up from a break straight into the Group 1 Victoria Cup over 2240m.

In 2013, he went into this $400,00 feature 'race hard' a couple of weeks after winning the Miracle Mile brilliantly at Menangle. This time, he hasn't started since the end of November, ironically after losing his Miracle Mile crown to Kiwi Christen Me . However, James Rattray's star looked good winning a trial at Ballarat last Saturday, rating 1:58.5 for 2200m and beating home one of his dangers, Guaranteed .

Guaranteed comes off a last start victory in the South Australian Cup and is one of three leading hopes for trainer Emma Stewart. Her other runners are Philadelphia Man  and Restropo .

Phildelphia Man heads into the Vic Cup after an 11-race winning streak, dating back to April 2012, came to an end when he faded in the last 100m to finish second to Franco Ledger  in the Shepparton Cup. Last-start Hamilton Pacing Cup winner Restrepo has drawn the outside of the backrow on Saturday night.

The big night of harness action at Melton also includes three heats of the Victoria Derby (2240m), two heats of the Australasian Trotting Championship (2760m) and the Group 2 Trotting Mares Sprint Championship Final (1720m).
