The Big Bash finals get under way on Saturday as the Strikers host the Sixers at the Adelaide Oval.

Since gaining top spot on the Big Bash ladder from the opening match, the Strikers haven’t looked back. With seven wins and just one loss in their eight regular season matches, they’ve demonstrated the ability and consistency to go all the way. Adelaide fans are yet to witness a Big Bash triumph from their side in the tournament’s short history, but they feel this is the season – as do the bookies. After entering the competition as a $9 chance, the Strikers are equal favourites with the Scorchers in the futures market, the only side that has beaten them this campaign. Not many punters backed them with confidence from the start, however there was one bet of $1000 that came in for them on the morning of the season opener.

The Sixers enter their second consecutive finals series on a high following a thrilling four wicket win over city rivals the Thunder on Thursday night. Trailing by 22 runs with one over remaining, the boys in Pink pulled a rabbit out of the hat to somehow snatch victory at the death. The script was written for Brett Lee to smash a four on the last ball to seal the win for the Sixers, and to top it off, it was his final game in front of his home fans. Jordan Silk starred for the Sydney side in that match, taking a freakish catch and registering 69 runs, and he could be the man that sparks an upset result on Saturday.

As expected when first plays fourth in the Semi-Finals, the Strikers enter the match as commanding favourites. Darren Berry’s men had little trouble beating the Sixers during the season, registering a 23 run victory just last week.
