The regular season of the Big Bash ends on Thursday night as the Sixers and Thunder clash in the Sydney derby.

While finishing in fourth spot seems inevitable for the Sixers, they can now plan for their trip down south against the Adelaide Strikers. But before they start focusing on that all-important Semi-Final, Trevor Bayliss’ side have a final hit-out with their cross-town rivals. Having lost three of their past four Big Bash matches heading into Thursday’s derby, the Sixers will be desperate to conjure up some sort of momentum heading into the finals. Brett Lee and Sean Abbott have been the Sydney side’s best with the ball, managing 15 wickets between them. Nathan Lyon marked his return from international duty last week with a wicket, and he’s  to register the most dismissals in just his second match for the Sixers this season.

While the Thunder’s season may already be over, nothing would be better than signing off with a Sydney derby win. It was an 8 wicket loss to the Stars on Saturday night that ended their push for a place in the finals, and after setting a total of just 106 to run down, they’ll need to improve if they’re any chance against the Sixers. South African legend Jacque Kallis may have dazzled in the early parts of the season, but he’s struggled to find consistency since. Despite his lack of form, he, along with fellow veteran Michael Hussey, remains one of the Thunder’s biggest weapons with the bat.

While there’s not much at stake besides bragging rights in this match, the market has been quiet in terms of big bets. The Sixers ran out comfortable winners by 16 runs when they faced off last just before the New Year, and punters will be expecting a similar result.
