A big win for the Stars over the Scorchers on Wednesday could yield them a home Big Bash Semi-Final.

After stuttering at the start of their Big Bash campaign, the Stars are well and truly back in the hunt for their first tournament triumph. The pre-tournament favourites found themselves rooted to the bottom of the table after losing their opening three matches, but four wins in their past four have them pushing for a home ground Semi-Final. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has enjoyed his first season in the T20 competition. The pom has top scored in three of his side’s seven matches, and he’ll be out to notch the most runs again on Wednesday.

With a comfortable net run rate and two-point gap separating themselves and the Stars on the ladder, Perth can lose this match and still claim a home ground Semi-Final. Last season’s champions have looked dangerous all season, and along with the Stars, their on the second line of betting to make it back-to-back titles at . Veteran bowlers Brad Hogg and Yasir Arafat have proved once again form is temporary and class is permanent with a number of dominating displays with the ball. The duo have combined for 12 wickets this campaign, an exceptional feat considering Hogg has played just three matches.

Unlike a lot of Big Bash games this season, the betting market suggests this match is a bit of a coin flip. Punters are having a hard time separating the two, but most of the big bets are coming in for the Stars, including one bet of $600 at even money odds.
