The big Magic Millions race day is a week away and a number of horses are looking for last minute qualification into the $2m 2YO Classic via the opening race at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Despite a last start dominant win at Ipswich, Le Chef needs more prize money to qualify. Currently 24th in the order of entry with just over $14,000 in the kitty, Darryl Hansen's two-year-old Exceed And Excel colt has to take the winner's cheque of $41,600 to be assured of qualification. Finishing second would put him on the borderline of making the final field of 16, plus five emergencies.

Maiden Read Good  (26th) is in the same boat. Trained by Trevor Miller on the Sunshine Coast, Real Good is coming off a solid second behind Saga Of The Storm and has $13,000 in stakes.

Following a second to Frequendly in Toowoomba on New Year's Eve, In His Stride is equal 18th with $23,000 in prize money. The Rothesay youngster trained by Rex Lipp has been placed at all three starts to date, and a similar effort on Saturday would allow him to squeeze into the field.

With no prize money at all, Red Magic , King Drabadore and Mistral Thief must win to qualify for the main event.
