A misfiring Everton host West Brom on Tuesday morning (AEST) to wrap up Round 22 of the EPL.

The Christmas/New Year period has been far from kind to Everton. Roberto Martinez’s men struggled big time over the festive season, managing just one point in their past five matches. That point, however, did come last time out in a 1-1 draw with champions Manchester City, signalling better things are to come for the Blues’ fans. Steven Naismith was the hero in that match when he headed home to equalise with nine minutes remaining, and it’s not the first time he’s saved the day for his side. The former Rangers striker has enjoyed a stellar first half to the season, and he’s a fancied option at to produce the match’s first goal.

Sitting two spots behind Everton in 15th spot, three points on Tuesday would be invaluable for West Brom. Like their opponents, the Baggies have struggled in the past month or so, managing just four points from a possible 15. With 21 points to their name, West Brom are far from safe, and two more losses could see them drop into the relegation zone. However new manager Tony Pulis does have a squad close to full-strength to choose from, with Graham Dorrans and Craig Dawson expected to return to the visitors’ first XI.

Both sides are desperate for the three points on Tuesday, but the betting ring suggests they will remain at Goodison Park. Only once in the past eight meetings has West Brom tasted victory over the Toffees, and only once in the past nine clashes has there been three or more goals .
