The Strikers  host the Thunder  on Monday night looking to go back to the top of the table.

It’s been somewhat of a surprise to see the Strikers dominate in the early stages of the tournament, but being tagged as the underdogs has worked perfectly in their favour. With four wins out of their opening five matches, the Adelaide outfit currently occupy second on the Big Bash ladder, and a win on Monday night would guarantee them a spot in this season’s finals series. Opening order slogger Tim Ludeman has been instrumental with the bat, topping the runs charts in three matches so far. In one of those innings, the 29-year-old raced to the quickest half century in the tournament’s history, and he’s  to register the most runs for the hosts.

This match is shaping up to be the most telling of the season for the Thunder as they lie agonisingly close to the top four. The fourth instalment of the Big Bash has been all about two familiar faces for Sydney siders – Jaques Kallis and Michael Hussey. The two veterans have built one of the most feared partnerships in the game, and it all started in this season’s opening match. The pair combined for a total of 193 runs against the Heat, with Kallis high scoring with 97 runs, and if the duo can build another solid foundation with the bat, the Thunder are a real chance of an upset.

The Strikers head into this match off the back of a defeat, and that has put off punters taking the short price on offer. Many TattsBet customers see value with the Thunder in the head-to-head market, with a couple of big bets, including one of $1000, coming in for the visitors.
