Reigning Super Bowl Champions the Seattle Seahawks  launch the new NFL season when they host the Green Bay Packers  this Friday morning (AEST).

The Seahawks will aim to become the first back-to-back Super Bowl Champions since Tom Brady and the New England Patriots did so back in 2004/05.  Last season they dropped just three games and only one at home.  Along the way they recorded the League’s best defensive record, conceding just over an average of 14 points per game during the regular season.  It wasn’t just the defence that was to be admired last year, with Russell Wilson establishing himself as one of the best Quarterback’s in the NFL and Running Back Marshawn Lynch earning a third straight Pro Bowl selection.  Despite a less than impressive 2-2 pre-season record, the Seahawks  remain favourites with TattsBet to take this year’s title.

Green Bay enters the season with renewed optimism.  After just one loss in the pre-season and a fully fit Aaron Rodgers at their disposal, the Packers will look to put a poor 2013/14 season behind them.  TattsBet punters seem to think they can as well, with only San Francisco having more bets placed on for this year’s title.  If the Packers are to have any chance of capturing a third Super Bowl, Rodgers will need to remain fit and firing. Finishing 2013/2014 season with 17 touchdown passes and over 2500 passing yards, it is no wonder Rogers is one of the favourites to take out this year’s MVP.

It’s been almost two years since these two teams met in a regular season game, with Seattle taking the spoils that day.  Seattle will deservedly start favourites, but the Packers are well and truly in this one and offer great value to punters.  Either way, this match-up looks like an absolute ripper to kick-start the new season.
