All Three Titles On The Line

Unbeaten as a pro boxer, 'Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather  faces Marcos Maidana this Sunday (AEST), almost 18-years after his first professional fight.

Just four months after their first encounter, it’s Mayweather-Maidana II at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the 37-year-old champ is betting the house, with his WBA and WBC welterweight and WBC super welterweight titles on the line. This is very unusual and required special dispensation by the WBC.

Mayweather has the perfect professional record, unbeaten in 46 bouts and winning 26 by knockout. It’s just the second time in his illustrious career that Mayweather will compete in a rematch having twice defeated Jose Luis Castillo in 2002 in lightweight title bouts after his first win was disputed.

Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) showed little respect for the Mayweather aura in the first fight and the 31-year-old cowboy from the Pampas has to do it all again against one of boxing’s true maestros, who would’ve gleaned plenty from the previous 36 minutes they spent in the ring in early May.

In the lead up to this fight, Mayweather was recently sued by his ex-fiancé, Shantel Jackson, who has alleged assault, battery and the release of medical records without permission.
