Boban Backed in Memsie Stakes

With three Group 1 victories over a mile to his name, Boban  looks the one to beat in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday, and punters agree, with the early $4.60 fixed price on TattsBet quickly snapped up.

Hoping to avoid bog tracks, trainer Chris Waller cut short the five-year-old's Sydney campaign and headed straight to Melbourne after his first up run when beaten less than a length by Sweet Idea in the Group 2 Missile Stakes over 1200m at Randwick. On that day, Boban came from last at the 400m mark to run an eye-catching fourth. On Saturday, he again faces two rivals who beat home at Randwick - Sweet Idea (1st)  and Messene (2nd) .

A four-year-old mare trained by Gai Waterhouse, Sweet Idea has been in the money all but two of her 14 starts. Six wins and six minor placings have netted her owners, including former AFL player Campbell Brown, over $1.8m in prize money. That compares favourable to Boban's returns - $1.63m from nine wins and two placings in 29 runs.

Like Boban, Messene was scratched from last week's Warwick Stakes because of the heavy track, and this lightly raced six-year-old, with nine wins and three seconds from 14 starts, has never missed a place second up.

Peter Moody has a double-pronged attach with the ever consistent Moment Of Change  and Randwick Guineas winner Dissident  engaged. Come back horse Puissance De Lune  and the classy Happy Trials  are also in the mix for the first Group 1 of the new racing season and the $400,000 purse.

If you like Moment Of Change or Messene, TattsBet has a special offer - $6 for both.

**It will be available online only from 9am (AEST) Saturday morning and conditions apply.**
