Powerball's $70 million draw is TONIGHT!

Thursday, 21 August 2014 - The final countdown has begun with just hours left until tonight’s mind-blowing $70 million Powerball draw!

Queues are forming at lottery outlets around the country as customers buy their entry in tonight’s Powerball draw and dream about what they could change if they shared in $70 million!

Tatts Lotteries spokesperson Elissa Lewis said tonight’s jackpot is the largest jackpot prize that has been offered this year so excitement is building as the clock counts down to tonight’s Powerball draw.

“We anticipate approximately five million adults around the country will participate in the draw tonight, which is more than 30 per cent of the Australian adult population,” Ms Lewis said.

“Of all those entries, we anticipate around three million tickets will be purchased today – that equates to more than 80 tickets per second being transacted through lottery terminals around the country during trading hours!

“We’re expecting queues will grow longer from lunchtime throughout the afternoon with a last minute lotto frenzy sweeping the nation from 5pm.

“So if you’re planning to purchase an entry in tonight’s $70 million Powerball draw, the best way to avoid disappointment is to buy your ticket early and if you have a players card, don’t forget to register your entry!” Ms Lewis added.

The $70 million Powerball jackpot draw will take place tonight, Thursday 21 August 2014 at approximately 8.40pm AEST.

Tickets can be purchased from lottery retail outlets and online from Tatts.com until 7.30pm AEST.
