With their run to the semis finally getting some traction, the return of Co-captain Matt Scott could not have come at a better time for North Queensland. The Cowboys have missed the go forward he provides, and with front row partner James Tamou in doubt because of a neck injury, they need him now more than ever. On Saturday, they go head-to-head with with fellow Queensland franchise the Gold Coast Titans, who are looking to atone for a costly loss to Parramatta.

Last week’s performance was what we've been expecting from the Cowboys all year. They were skilful in attack and dominant in defence. The forwards powered through the middle of the Bulldogs, and Johnathan Thurston bamboozled them out wide. Tariq Sims will be a huge loss for North Queensland. Heading to the Knights in 2015, he has been one of their standouts. His footwork at the line confuses even the best defenders, and the lines he chooses has elevated him as one of the premier back rowers in the game. With brother Ashton heading over to the UK next year as well, the North will be Sims-less. Scott returns this week to the front row, pushing Ashton to the bench. With Tamou in doubt, Sam Hoare is again named 18th man. If Tamou isn’t fit, Sims will most likely start in the front row, with Hoare on the bench.

Big Dave Taylor has relished being pushed out wide. He is the size of a gorilla and has speed to burn. When he gets one-on-one, the 'Coaltrain' is so difficult to stop. Last week against the Eels, the Titans did what they should have done the week prior; use Taylor close to the line. A great cut-out ball by stand-in pivot Brad Takairangi saw Taylor stroll across the line. When he was given space, he caused major headaches for Origin winger Will Hopoate, and the big unit must do the same again on Saturday. Coach John Cartwright has made just one change, with David Mead returning from injury replacing Kalifa Faifai Loa on the wing.

Last time these two met, baby brother (Titans) came out on top. It was only by one point, and at the time both teams were in similar form. But this time, it’s in Cowboys territory. This time the Cowboys are hitting their straps. This time the Titans are struggling. Big brother should even the ledger in this one.
