What should Melbourne couple do with their TattsLotto prize?

Tuesday 19 August, 2014 - A Melbourne couple is having a hard enough time deciding how to spend their $700,000 TattsLotto prize from Saturday’s draw, so imagine how they’d feel if they won one hundred times that amount in Thursday’s $70 million Powerball jackpot draw!

The humble couple from St Albans are stumped about how to use their $722,567.47 TattsLotto prize.

“Things like this just don’t happen to us! We’re just like everybody else. We’ve worked hard and saved hard all our lives to provide for our children,” the winning wife explained.

“Everything we’ve done has been about setting our daughters up for their future – getting them through school, finding a job. Those are the things you do for your family without even thinking.

“Maybe now we will treat ourselves a little. There are too many thoughts going through our heads.”

The winning father said it was a special moment when he and his wife shared the news with their children.

“We had everyone on the line, on speaker, and I said we’ve got some news.

“And one of our daughters laughed and said, ‘What, you’ve won TattsLotto?’ as a joke, and I said ‘Yes! We’ve won!’

“We’re not planning to change too much about our lives now, and I won’t retire yet – I’ve got too many good work years left in me,” the winning dad added.

The couple purchased their winning TattsLotto System 7 marked ticket from Brimbank Central Lotto, Kiosk K5 in Brimbank Central Shopping Centre in Deer Park. They have claimed a division one prize of $715,660.27 along with other lower division prizes for a total of $722,567.47 from the draw.

Another two division one TattsLotto prizes were won with tickets purchased from Warren Village Newsagency in Mordialloc and Kilmore Authorised Newsagency in Kilmore. The prize won in Kilmore was not registered to a Tatts Card and Tatts encourages unregistered players to check their tickets today!

Throughout Australia, there were six entries that won a first division share of TattsLotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool on Saturday 16 August, each worth $715,748.62. Along with the three winning entries purchased in Victoria, there was one each sold in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3451 on Saturday 16 August, 2014 were 24, 3, 16, 18, 15 and 2 with the supplementary numbers of 31 and 25.
