Powerball jackpots to $70 MILLION for next Thursday!

Thursday, 14 August 2014 - The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to $70 MILLION for next Thursday’s draw!

Following seven weeks of jackpotting, the first division prize pool has risen to a mammoth $70 million.

While the $50 million first division prize eluded players tonight, more than 1,058,991 prizes were won across Australia in divisions two to eight, sharing in a total prize pool of $23.48 million.

Tatts Lotteries Public Relations Manager Elissa Lewis said we could see a new Powerball record created next week if just one Powerball entry claims the entire $70 million division one prize pool.

“The standing record for the largest Powerball win claimed by a single entry in Australia was in 2008 when one ticket purchased in Melbourne won $58.7 million in Powerball draw 629.

“It would also equal the largest lotto win ever by a single ticket which was set in December last year when a ticket purchased on the Gold Coast won $70 million in Oz Lotto.

“Customers will no doubt be dreaming about how their life could change if they shared in next week’s $70 million division one prize pool!

“Tatts Lotteries recently asked that question to the New South Wales winner who won the entire division one prize pool in the last Powerball $50 million jackpot draw on 26 December 2013 with a ticket they purchased from South Dubbo Newsagency in Dubbo.

“The Powerball winner happily said they’d kept their feet on the ground since they claimed their $50 million prize.”

The numbers drawn tonight in Powerball draw 952 on Thursday 14 August 2014 were 12, 1, 38, 31, 8 and 26 and the Powerball was number 6.

The $70 million Powerball draw will take place on Thursday, 21 August 2014.
