The Gold Coast Titans  are finally back in the winner’s circle. It may have been a sloppy game against the Rabbitohs on Monday night, but a wins a win. One of the positives they can take away from that game is their backline's beginning to find some form. For the Canberra Raiders , it just keeps getting worse. They come off the bye, but before that they lost four in a row. The Raiders poor form shouldn't all fall on coach Ricky Stuart’s shoulders, but he has to take responsibility to some degree.

Last Monday against the Bunnies, the Titans continued to put themselves under pressure. Silly penalties and dropped ball almost cost them the match. If it wasn’t for William Zillman, it very well might have a different result. Zillman is beginning to find the form which saw him as one of the premier fullbacks in the game. Along with Kevin Gordon and David Mead, who are also beginning to hit their strides, the Titans backline looks set the take the NRL competition by storm. The return of Origin representatives Nate Myles and David Taylor is a huge boost for the home side. Taylor and Myles come off the bench, with Cody Nelson, Mark Ioane, Matt Srama and Tom Kingston make up the rest of an extended bench.

Sometimes it is just painful to watch what is happening to the Raiders. They continue to show up, but just can’t seem to get the win. Two weeks ago against the Tigers, they really should have run away with it. But instead of taking advantage of an injury-depleted bench, they failed to capitalize on their opportunities, and in the end went down 19-18. The NRL has also poured salt on their wounds by denying young superstar Jeremy Hawkins the chance to debut, due to salary cap restrictions. Sami Sauiluma hops on to the wing, with Brenko Lee shifting to the centres to cover for the injured Jack Wighton (thumb). Matt Allwood drops out of the side, with Joel Edwards named as 18th man.

One more loss to the Raiders and their season is over. For the Titans, they have a little more breathing space, but if they lose this one, the rest of the rounds virtually become must-wins. With so much on the line for both teams, this one shapes to be a corker of a game.
