Brisbane  and West Coast  battle it out on Saturday night at the Gabba, with both sides missing key players.

While the Lions main aim is to avoid the wooden-spoon, the Eagles know they have no more second chances to make the finals. Two wins behind eighth-placed Gold Coast with seven rounds remaining and against a Brisbane team decimated by injury and suspension, West Coast simply have to come of the Gabba on Saturday night with four premiership points.

Without midfield prime-movers Tom Rockliff (suspension), Jack Redden (ankle) and Daniel Rich (knee), as well as recently retired skipper Jonathan Brown and injured ruckman Matthew Leuenberger, the Lions look ripe for the picking. Coach Justin Leppitsch is without his entire first-string centre square group. But as they've shown against Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne in recent weeks, their mosquito squad of Lewis Taylor, Dayne Zorko and Josh Green is more than capable of causing opposition teams plenty of headaches.

For the Eagles, this is a real danger game. They are coming off a short recovery following an energy-sapping loss against the Sydney Swans and a tough WA derby loss to Freo. Xavier Ellis plays his 100th game, but the visitors will miss their suspended goal-kicker John Kennedy.

Brisbane is a chance to snatch this one, but their biggest problem is goals. In 15 outings this year, the Lions haven't topped 100 points and they average just 64. While an upset is NOT 'mission impossible', more 'mission improbable', I expect the Weagles big men like Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui to dominate at the Gabba.
