North Melbourne v Richmond
Etihad Stadium
Sunday June 8 – 7:10 PM (AEST)

North Melbourne:
Richmond: LLLWL

Richmond can ill afford another loss on Sunday eveing when they take on North Melbourne  at Etihad Stadium.

It's shaping as a match that could potentially define their seasons, especially the Tigers. Their form of late has been ordinary and they were abysmal against the Bombers last week. For North, they return to Melbourne off the back of an impressive win over West Coast in Perth. A win for them will certainly strengthen their top-four aspirations among a clutter of clubs vying for the September double chance.

For Richmond, a win would keep their slim finals hopes alive, while a loss would make it near impossible to get there. The stakes are high for both sides on Sunday night, but the consequences for losing will be much greater for Richmond.

They head into the encounter aware their opponent’s record against them is superb. The Kangaroos have won four of their last five matches against the Tigers, and if you delve deeper, they've only lost to Richmond five times in their past 20 encounters.

Based on form, these two sides are chalk and cheese. North were outstanding last week, while Richmond were horrible. What we've been waiting for all year is for the Tigers to bring the game which took them to the finals in 2013. We're yet to see it, but if they can bring it, we could be in for one almighty contest. You wouldn't think there'd be a greater reason to get motivated for this one, but Richmond have found it tough in recent weeks. Despite sitting in the eight, with only one match and percentage separating them from the top four, North have struggled for consistency in 2014. This clash looms as the perfect chance to find some, and cement themselves in the race for the finals. You wouldn't think they'd let an opportunity like this slip.
