Carlton  and Geelong  face off at Etihad Stadium on Friday night, with both sides looking to bounce back from demoralising round 11 losses.

Rumours are circulating in the AFL world this week that champion midfielder Chris Judd may mark his long awaited return from a hamstring injury on Friday night. The dual Brownlow medallist has been missing in action since he sustained the injury in round five, but Mick Malthouse is desperate to regain Judd as early as possible – especially after last weekend’s loss to bottom of the table Brisbane. There is talk that Judd is likely to return through the VFL initially, but a first team inclusion isn’t out of the question. One name that won’t be included in the Carlton side is young defender Josh Bootsma. The 21-year-old’s contract was torn up on Tuesday after he was caught sending explicit images to a teenage girl via the social media app Snapchat.

Geelong will still be licking their wounds after last week’s humiliating 110-point loss to the Swans in Sydney. The Cats took almost half an hour of playing time to kick a goal, but by that stage they were already well on their way to their biggest loss to Sydney in the club’s history. Coach Chris Scott will be hoping Tom Lonergan and Corey Enright return into the Cat’s line-up. The defenders missed last week’s game through injury, but are likely to be fit ahead of Friday night’s clash, news that will be a big boost for the side, especially for the struggling backline.

Geelong head into this match as firm favourites and punters are hoping last week’s performance was just a minor hiccup in their season. Carlton’s inconsistency continues to be a worry for Mick Malthouse and if they can’t manage to string a number of consecutive wins, they can kiss their finals chances goodbye. The Blues may hit some good form soon, but it doesn’t look likely to begin this weekend against a hungry Geelong side.
