After some indifferent form of late, including a last-start 'great escape', Geelong QL_SS#1426036;1007#SS# is a real chance to return to its impressive early season form. The main reasons are simple - the Cats are in the safe surrounds of their Simonds Stadium fortress and they face second-bottom side St Kilda .

The normally slick Cats have been patchy since their famous victory over premiers Hawthorn in round five. They've won three games and lost three since then. Having been humiliated by the Sydney Swans in round 11 by 110-points, they were very lucky to scrape past Carlton in the opening game of round 12. Had the Blues been paid a regulation (and warranted free-kick) in the dying seconds, the Cats would've suffered a fourth defeat in six outings.

Still, their overall win-loss record is an impressive 8-3 and they have reached the half-way mark of their home and away campaign in fifth place on the ladder, just percentage outside the top four. And Geelong won't get a better chance to find form than in this clash against the battling Saints, who were demolished by Port Adelaide last weekend.

At this very venue, the Cats crushed St Kilda by 101-points last season and the Saints last win in Geelong came in 1999. If the homeside continues its average of 13.5 marks per game (2nd) inside 50 and lifts its accuracy rate in front of goal, having  converted just 45.9 per cent (18th) of shots, this could get ugly for the visitors. And big forward Tom Hawkins might even have a day out!
