Fresh from an unbelievable comeback win over Richmond last weekend, North Melbourne has a real opportunity to cement its place inside the top eight against Adelaide , which has been hot and cold of late.

The Crows continued their up and down season last week with a loss to Fremantle, but their record in Adelaide against the Kangaroos is sensational. Crows fans will hope another week of soul searching at West Lakes will see their side hit form, but with a finals berth in sight, the Roos will be hard to stop.

In the City of Churches, the Crows have won 11 games to six, including the past six. In fact, the Kangaroos haven’t defeated the Crows in Adelaide since 2003. Another plus for the hosts - the Kangas have struggled to mark the ball inside 50 this season and are ranked second-last averaging just 8.7 a game. The Crows however, are are only marginally better 10.2 a game.

Another interesting stat when comparing 10th-placed Adelaide and 7th-placed North Melbourne is points for an against. From 11 outings, the Crows have notched up 968 points, compared to North's 954. But the great disparity comes in points against - the Crows have conceded 958 compared to the Roos 846. That means Adelaide have leaked an average of ten point per match more than their opponents and could ill-afford to give the visitors a two-goal advantage in what should be a close encounter.

Betting suggests this will be a tight tussle and the Roos can't afford another slow start like last week's against the Tigers. Perhaps home ground advantage might be the difference in this battle for a place in the eight.
