Brisbane Broncos v Manly Sea Eagles

Sea Eagles: WWWLW

The casualties just keep mounting from Origin. Manly Sea Eagles halfback, Daly Cherry-Evans, has injured his rib. DCE is out for 1 week and Anthony Watmough is out for 2-3 weeks with a ruptured bicep. The Brisbane Broncos are one of the lucky ones with Justin Hodges, Corey Parker and Matt Gillett all coming through unscathed.

Unless things unravel, Manly are heading to the finals. They have been the benchmark for the past decade. The thought was that when Desie (Des Hasler) left, the Sea Eagles would crumble. But Geoff Toovey has proved he's just as good a Hasler. He has kept the core team together and they play for each other. The injury to DCE is unfortunate, but they have the depth to cover almost any position. Jack Littlejohn is the likely replacement. Kieran Foran returns after four weeks on the sideline with a knee injury. Jamie Lyon is back as well, pushing Peta Hiku to the wing, with David Williams dropped.

Brisbane is ready to turn it on. After another stellar performance last week against the Tigers, Ben Hunt is proving he can be the Broncos No.7 for years to come. His kicking game was pin-point, his passing game was precise and his defence solid. In more good news for the Broncos, they welcome back all their Origin stars, as well as test forward Sam Thaiday (from injury). After Queensland's disappointing loss to the Blues on Wednesday, Hodges, Parker and Gillett will take their place in the starting line-up. With Dale Copley shifting to the wing, Lachlan Maranta, Todd Lowrie, Jarrod Wallace and Corey Oates all move to the bench to accommodate for the return of the Maroon stars. Ben Hannant, David Hala, David Stagg and Frank Molo make up an extended bench.

Manly are a great team, but the Broncos are hard to stop at home. Follow that up with the form they are in and the home side might just come away with this one.
