Two of the AFL's slow starters battle it out on Sunday, when Carlton  host Adelaide  in the final match of round ten.

Carlton’s season looked doomed just four rounds in, with the Blues failing to record a single win. But their fortunes changed in round five with an upset win over the Bulldogs, followed by a gritty win over the Eagles. This week, they come up against an Adelaide side in red hot form after a strong victory over the Pies last Thursday. Although losing midfielder Mitch Robinson through suspension, the Blues welcome back experienced duo Andreww Carrazzo and Jarrad Waite. Skipper Chris Judd’s fitness isn’t quite up to scratch for this weekend, but Mick Malthouse will be hoping the champion midfielder will be ripe and ready for their next outing in Brisbane.

Adelaide were at the centre of controversy last week when forward Tom Jenkins nailed a goal after the third quarter siren to put the Crows in an unassailable lead over the Pies. That incident overshadowed what was the club’s best performance to date, but the players will be confident they can put in another solid shift at the MCG. Tex Walker marks his second game back from a knee injury he picked up in the corresponding fixture last year. He was far from his best last week against the Pies, but with more game time, he can regain the sort of form that saw him kick 53 goals in 2012. With no players omitted this week, the Crows will field the same 15 that started against Collingwood.

The Crow’s impressive win last week is the reason they start as favourites at the MCG, but Carlton will fancy their chances. If the Blues can manage a win over their fellow top finals contender, they will head to Brisbane next week with their eyes fixed on a top eight position. The Crows will be hard to crack, but Carlton has what it takes to cause an upset and continue their revival.
