Bulls v Brumbies
Loftus Versfeld Stadium, South Africa
Saturday May 24 – 3:10 AM (AEST)

Brumbies: LLLWW

Some silly penalties and a late try was what sunk the ACT Brumbies  against the Cheetahs 27-21 last week. The form team of the Australian Conference, it was a below par performance by the men from the capital. If they hope to maintain their place at the top of the mountain, they have to produce the same sort of form that saw them wallop the Chiefs a month ago. The Bulls  had back-to-back wins before heading into the bye last week, some much needed momentum for the South Africans.

The Brumbies are too good not to bounce back from their shock loss to the Cheetahs last week. Having beaten both the Sharks and the Chiefs last month, they have shown they have the talent to go all the way this year. Christian Lealiifano is just pure skill. He always proves his worth every time he handles the ball, and his stellar season has earned him another Wallabies cap. The Brumbies have a total of 10 players being named in the Wallabies squad.

Talk about perfect timing. Bulls captain Flip van der Merwe is set to make his return after serving a three game suspension. The inspirational skipper is ready to unleash on the Brumbies, calling it the biggest game for the Bulls this season so far. After the bye, the Bulls are well rested and ready to rip in. Van der Merwe replaces Paul Willemse in the No.4 jersey, with Werner Kruger shifting to tight-head prop alongside Marcel van der Merwe. Jacques-Louis Potgieter moves back to the bench making way for Handre’ Pollard to claim back his No.10 jersey. Willemse moves to the bench, pushing Wimpie van der Walt out of the side.

It’s a test of character for the Brumbies. If they can forget about last week and get up on Saturday, it will go a long way towards the rest of their season.
