Hawthorn Hawks v St Kilda
Saturday May 3 - 1:45 PM (AEST)

Saints: WLLWL

Hawthorn look set to notch a second big win in as many weeks, this time at the hands of St Kilda in their Round 7 AFL match at the MCG.

The Hawks bounced back from their Round 5 loss to Geelong with an 11-goal dismantling of Richmond on Sunday. Hawthorn took the lead from the first whistle and never looked back from there. Cyril Rioli was at his attacking best, impressing with four third-quarter goals in the 66-point romp. Key defender, Ryan Schoenmakers, will be eager to feature in the Hawks squad and has made bold claims for his first AFL start since round four last season. Schoenmakers has played the past four matches in the VFL since coming back from a knee reconstruction and was an AFL emergency for the Richmond game.

St Kilda’s performance against Brisbane on the weekend replicated their 2013 form, gifting the Lions their first win of the season. The Round 6 match saw Eli Templeton break his arm. Following surgery, he's expected to miss three months. That opens the door for the Adam Schneider, who missed the Brisbane game through suspension. Sam Fisher went to New Zealand on the weekend, but didn’t feature in the loss and remains in contention for a call-up. Trent Dennis-Lane kicked three goals in the VFL, while draftee Blake Acres was named the team's best in its win over the Casey Scorpions. Both youngsters will be chasing a spot in the main squad.

The Saints will be looking to put in a good performance ahead of some winnable matches in the coming weeks against Carlton and Gold Coast. If they show up like they did in Brisbane though, the Hawks will run riot. Hawthorn will win this comfortably, the real question is by how much? They will be looking for a strong performance themselves to send a warning to other title contenders.
