Collingwood will look to bring to an end a two match winning streak by fierce rivals Carlton in the opening match of Round 7 in the AFL. Both teams head into the clash beaming with confidence following come-from-behind victories last weekend.

The Blues' season looks to be back on track following consecutive victories, the latest a thrilling three-point win over West Coast. Mick Malthouse’s men showed their fighting spirit clawing back from 22 points down with 15 minutes to go. Carlton’s major injury concern this week lies with running defender Chris Yarran, who was subbed off following a problem with his hamstring. But if Yarran isn’t fit, Blues fans shouldn’t be too worried. Carlton have plenty of replacements available with the likes of vice-captain Andrew Carrazzo and utility David Ellard ready for selection, as is first-year midfielder Patrick Cripps.

The Pies, bar their dismal first quarter, put in one of their best performances of the season to overcome a 37-point deficit against Essendon on ANZAC day. Brownlow Medallist Dane Swan added another honour to his name when he was awarded with the ANZAC medal following his four goal haul. Pies coach Nathan Buckley is likely to make his first change to the Collingwood squad in three weeks at the expense of Alex Fasolo. The 21-year-old has been cleared of a fracture, but will most likely sit out Friday’s clash.

The Blues have managed to cause a few unexpected wins over the past two weeks, but stretching that streak to three in a row is a tough task against genuine title contenders. The Pies shouldn’t have any trouble brushing the Blues aside, and with Swan, Pendlebury and Sidebottom firing on all cylinders, a Collingwood triumph looks on the cards.
