Following a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford a couple of a week ago, Manchester United knows it must score in the second-leg showdown in Germany to eliminate holders Bayern Munich from the UEFA Champions League.

The defending Premier League champions are sixth and unable to retain their league crown, so they are desperate to salvage something from a disappointing season. The Red Devils’ European form has been solid (winning all but one match) and the dressing room has put a priority on the Allianz Arena clash on Thursday morning (AEST).

The last start 3-0 League victory over Newcastle was a 10th away win of the season for David Moyes' side and United can take heart from their success on the road when they come toe-to-toe with the European Champions, who suffered a first league defeat in 18 months against Augsburg on Saturday.

Adding extra spice to the encounter, Man U reckons it is close to signing German superstar Toni Kroos, even though Bayern Munich is adamant the 24-year-old is not for sale.
